Where We've Been

Habitat for Humanity incorporated in Lawrence in 1989 under the leadership of Rev. John Gingerich. Rev. Gingerich had visited the headquarters of Habitat for Humanity, International, and brought back passion and enthusiasm for the Habitat solution to the problem of poverty housing.

Soon, the fledgling affiliate selected a family and began construction on a home on Harper Street where volunteer Glenn Hildebrand led construction.
Now it its 21st year of operation, Lawrence Habitat is now working with the 73rd family!
