Our Impact.
In seeking truly transformed communities, Habitat views bringing people together not only as a way to deliver a product - improved housing - but as an essential process for building hope and belief that healthier communities are achievable and beneficial for all. When we work together, statistics become faces with names, stereotypes are broken, and everyone has the opportunity to both give and receive. Only then is lasting change likely to occur.

Sarah & Annabelle Ready
104th Lawrence Habitat Homeowner
After an early life filled with chaos and obstacles, Sarah Ready, Lawrence Habitat’s #104 Homebuilder, is just like her name, “ready” to take on whatever life throws at her.
Sarah has overcome many hurdles in her life, and she is the first to express how her past has influenced the decisions she’s making today and her ambitions for the future. She shares, “Having my daughter, Annabelle, was truly the turning point in my life. I’ve set goals for myself, and I’ve achieved every one of them.”
Sarah is the sole provider for her family and loves her current job, driving a school bus. She enjoys gardening, learning new things, being creative and, most of all, loves to cook and bake.
The goal of owning her own home is the next achievement Sarah wishes to accomplish, and by partnering with Lawrence Habitat for Humanity, she will be able to offer Annabelle the stability she wants for her family. Sarah and Annabelle are both excited for all the possibilities that come with homeownership, including a larger place to garden for Sarah and the promise of a kitty for Annabelle.
Sarah’s eyes twinkle as she smiles with her whole face, and shares, “I refer to Annabelle and me as the A & S Express, nothing can stop us from achieving our next goals – we’re a team.”

The staff and Board of Lawrence Habitat believe that in order to truly live out that mission we must address our commitment to building hope for those in our community who have been systematically disadvantaged. Lawrence Habitat is committed to providing affordable housing programming for individuals of all races and ethnicities. We believe that affordable housing is a basic, fundamental right of every single person and that stable shelter represents transformational change for families and our neighborhoods.
